The Pacific is an World War II miniseries which premiered in the United States on HBO on March 14, 2010.

The series is based on two written memoirs of U.S. Marines: With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie.
The Pacific tells the story of these two authors and Marine John Basilone as their fight against Imperial Japan intensifies. The 1st Marine Division and it’s heroes are presented throughout several important battles with Japan, such as Peleliu, Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Okinawa as well as the Battle of Iwo Jima.

The Pacific was produced by Steven Spieleberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman in association with HBO Films, Dreamworks, Playtone and Seven Network.
