Stargate Universe

Stargate Universe or SGU is a science fiction TV series, part of the Stargate franchise, being a Canadian-American production premiered on October 2, 2009, on Syfy channel.

As opposed to Stargate Atlantis who was created as a spin-off from Stargate SG-1, the new TV show, Stargate Universe was conceived as completely separate from the previous two.

The action in Stargate Universe takes place on the Ancient ship Destiny, which was launched from Earth millions of years ago by the Ancients in order to spread Stargates throughout the Universe. The series begins when a team of soldiers from our present time step through a Stargate to find Destiny, while their base is under attack. Once arrived on the spaceship, they realize that it’s systems are damaged and they are unable to go back home or maneuver the ship.

The show puts as much accent on the people aboard the ship as on adventure and exploring new worlds.
